Coronation Street actor Johnny Briggs has filmed his final scene as Mike Baldwin, bringing to an end 30 years on the ITV1 soap. Briggs, who has played the factory boss since 1976, received gifts from the cast and crew after the scenes at the Granada's Manchester studios.
Fans will see Briggs' last scene, which features arch rival Ken Barlow, played by William Roache, in April.
A Granada spokeswoman said the scenes had been "quite emotional".
The spokeswoman added: "Hundreds of people came along to say goodbye to Johnny.
"He had drinks with the cast and crew and was presented with some gifts including a case of red wine and his last script, signed by the entire cast."
Ratings success
Briggs' final filming duty on Monday was a scene with his screen family, played by Bradley Walsh, Debra Stephenson and Rupert Hill.
His character's final scene with Barlow was recorded last week.
Mike Baldwin has been one of the Street's most popular characters of the last 30 years.
A tough Cockney businessman amid the northern characters, his 1983 fling with Deirdre Barlow was a huge ratings winner.
Briggs, 70, has been acting since the age of 12. His previous credits include small roles in Carry On films and TV police series Z Cars.
