Ross refuses guests 'unless I think I'm going to have fun with them'

The latest instalment of Davina was seen by 2.3 million viewers, down from 3.5 million at the start of the series.

But Ross told ITV1's This Morning the problems were largely not down to the presenter. "I don't think it's the best produced show," he said.

"I also get the feeling that some of the guests that she has on, she's maybe not as interested in as she might be."

He said he was "lucky" because he had a wide range of interests and "a lot of influence" over the direction of his programme.

"We don't tend to book people unless I think I'm going to have fun with them and I have something I want to ask them."

He said his production team would only invite guests they thought viewers would want to see, and would ensure there was a specific line of questioning to follow.

"If you can't come up with something, you've booked the wrong person."
