Spanish opera star Placido Domingo has cancelled more performances at New York's Metropolitan Opera because of ill-health. The 65-year-old tenor has been troubled by tracheitis - inflammation of the windpipe - since mid-December.
He cancelled his early performances of Cyrano de Bergerac last week and has now pulled out of all six performances of Samson et Dalila up to 2 March.
The Met said Domingo hoped to recover for Cyrano performances in mid-March.
They will be staged on 8, 11 and 16 March.
Domingo is also is conducting Verdi's Rigoletto at the Met throughout February.
Antonio Barasorda will replace Domingo in Alfano's Cyrano, and Clifton Forbis will sing the first five Samson performances, with the replacement for the final Samson to be announced later.
In August last year Domingo - one of the renowned Three Tenors - said he was considering retirement in the near future.
