Dolly Parton has won eight CMA awards |
Sir Elton John and Dolly Parton are to duet at the Country Music Awards. The singing stars will perform Turn the Lights Out When You Leave during the award ceremony at Madison Square Garden, in New York, on 15 November.
"I've always admired Sir Elton's songwriting, musicianship and singing and I'm thrilled to be working with him," said Parton.
Other confirmed performers include Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and Bon Jovi.
'Magical experience'
The award ceremony will be hosted by Brooks and Dunn, who will also perform, while Paul Simon and Willie Nelson will present the CMA song of the year award.
Parton - whose hits include Jolene, Coat of Many Colours, and 9 to 5 - is one of country music's most enduring stars.
She has been nominated for 40 CMA Awards and won eight including entertainer of the year (1978), female vocalist of the year twice (1975 and 1976), and musical event of the year twice (1988 and 1996).
As well as Turn the Lights Out When You Leave, from Sir Elton's Peachtree Road album, Parton will also perform John Lennon's Imagine, with Sir Elton accompanying on piano.
The song is featured on her new album Those Were the Days.
Sir Elton's career has spanned more than three decades making him one of the top-selling solo artists of all time.
He recently entertained 200,000 fans with a free show outside Rome's Colosseum, and took part in the Live 8 concert in London in July.
"The audience and our viewers are in for a magical experience when two of the most flamboyant and best-loved entertainers in the world take the stage," said CMA executive director Ed Benson.
