Mobo-award winning R&B star Jamelia has given birth to her second child, it has been announced. The 24-year-old singer gave birth on Friday to Tiani Byfield, her first child with boyfriend Darren Byfield, a Gillingham footballer.
Jamelia, who won three Mobos in 2004 following hits including Superstar and Thank You, has four-year-old daughter Teja from a previous relationship.
"Darren, Teja and I are over the moon," she said.
Last month Jamelia admitted the couple were hoping for a daughter.
Career break
She told an interviewer: "Every boy's name I suggest, Darren can think of a footballer with the same name and he doesn't want to name his child after any footballers."
Jamelia, who put her career on hold when Teja was born in 2001, recently became an ambassador for the baby charity Tommy's.
This year, Jamelia was nominated for three Brit awards, including best solo female artist.
At the 2004 Mobos, she won the award for best UK act, best video and took the prize for best single with her autobiographical track, Thank You.
