R&B star's step-brother shot
The step-brother of award-winning R&B star Jamelia is recovering in hospital after being shot in the head in a city street.

Tafarwa Beckford, 21, was hit in the head when shots were fired in the Winson Green area of Birmingham.

He was dropped off by car at a city hospital where his condition was described by police as serious.

West Midlands Police confirmed a 21-year-old man had been shot in Lodge Road, Winson Green, in the early hours of last Friday.

A spokeswoman for Jamelia's record label Parlophone said the artist was aware of the incident but declined to comment further.

"We look after Jamelia and not members of her family," the spokeswoman added.

Birmingham-born Jamelia, 22, has had several Top 40 hits and won a MOBO award in 2000 for best video.
