Jamelia's baby is due in October

The 24-year-old singer is three months pregnant by her boyfriend, Gillingham footballer Darren Byfield.

A spokesman for the Mobo-award winning star said the couple - who have been dating since last year - were "ecstatically happy" at the news.

Jamelia already has a four-year-old daughter, Teja, from a previous relationship. She put her career on hold when Teja was born in 2001.

Songwriting award

After a two-year break she returned to the charts in 2003 with hit single Superstar and her career has since gone from strength to strength.

This year, Jamelia was nominated for three Brit awards, including best solo female artist.

And last year she took home a clutch of awards from the Mobo ceremony, which was held at London's Royal Albert Hall.

She won the award for best UK act, best video and took the prize for best single with her autobiographical track, Thank You.
