This "Golden Ticket" T-shirt sold for more than $2,000 |
Britney Spears withdrew a jewelled bra from an online charity auction as she was concerned buyers were mistaken about when she had worn it. The singer said she had worn it as part of a promotional video for TV, not on stage as she performed Hit Me Baby One More Time as some thought.
EBay had already removed the item once after a member of staff considered it broke rules on selling used underwear.
Proceeds from the sale of other items will go to Hurricane Katrina victims.
Correct thing
Spears said she removed the bra from sale after bids exceeded expectations, reaching as high as $47,000 (26,8260).
"I felt the correct thing to do was remove this item from the auction because I don't want any of you to feel misled," said Spears.
She said the item had been properly described on the eBay site as one she had worn for the promotion of a US cable TV concert special.
Other items in the sale included a "I Have a Golden Ticket" T-shirt which sold for $1,275 (727) and a pair of jeans which reached $4,001 (2,283).
