Liam Gallagher lost two front teeth in the fight

The star and another unnamed member of the band had large amounts of alcohol and drugs - possibly cocaine - in their blood, prosecutor Anton Winkler said.

Gallagher was detained after the fight at a Munich hotel in December 2002, in which he lost two front teeth.

Mr Winkler said he thought it unlikely that the matter would come to trial, but a fine could be imposed.

German authorities have been investigating the band on suspicion of assault, damaging property and resisting arrest in connection with the incident.

Oasis called the incident an "unprovoked attack" at the time.

Gallagher's management paid a �170,000 fine before the band left Germany, according to the Independent newspaper.

That may be enough to avoid further action - but the singer and other band members remain under investigation.

A group of five computer consultants and estate agents who were involved in the brawl are likely to face charges of causing grievous bodily harm, the paper reported.

Former Oasis drummer Alan White, the band's DJ Phil Smith and two security guards were also arrested. Noel Gallagher was in bed at the time.

The band's security staff attempted to break up the fight but it continued outside, police said at the time of the incident.

The arrested men were given blood tests due to their drunken state, it was added.
