| Monday, 9 December, 2002, 10:13 GMT Oasis frontman bites back on tour ![]() Liam Gallagher's singing was unaffected by the surgery Oasis kicked off their UK tour in Cardiff with Liam Gallagher dedicating a song to his new teeth. The band's front man was in fine form at the Cardiff International Arena (CIA) on Sunday night after undergoing surgery to replace two front teeth. Oasis cut short the German leg of their world tour after the injury to Liam, which happened during a brawl in a Munich nightclub last week.
There were concerns the two CIA concerts might be scrapped as Liam recovered from his dental surgery. But the rebel frontman rose to the occasion and after showing off the successful operation to 7,500 fans in the arena, Liam dedicated Live Forever to the gig. "This next one is for my teeth," he said. Crucially for fans, the dentures had not altered his singing, as he performed in trademark shades and camouflage jacket on stage. After the concert, fans said they were impressed with Liam's comeback from the brawl.
"You just expect him to be like that. This is why people come to see him, because he is a bad boy," said one woman. Another commented: "At the end of the day, he has a big mouth - but we are all like that in Manchester!" Four of the band's tour party were arrested and later released without charge after the scuffle in Munich. German police said the musicians and crew members were released after the band had paid bail of 100,000 euros (64,000) bail. The incident was the latest to beset the band's live performances. In August, sell-out shows on the band's tour of the United States were postponed after Noel Gallagher, bass player Andy Bell and keyboard player Jay Darlington were hurt in a car crash. | See also: 04 Dec 02 | Music 03 Dec 02 | Music 03 Dec 02 | Music 28 Nov 02 | Showbiz 15 Apr 02 | Music 05 Oct 01 | Music 07 Aug 02 | Music Top Wales stories now: Links to more Wales stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
