Morrissey has already announced Reading and Leeds dates |
Morrissey, the former front man of The Smiths, is to headline one of the two days of the touring music festival Lollapalooza this summer. He joins a line-up that also includes The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Gomez.
Morrissey's inclusion follows his involvement in this year's Meltdown in London and at the Reading festival.
Lollapalooza, which starts in Seattle in July, is a travelling festival set up by Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell.
The second day of Lollapalooza will this year be headlined by cult US band String Cheese Incident.
May album
More than 30 artists will be confirmed for the 20 date festival, which will be in its ninth incarnation this year.
"This summer we will embody the spirit of the Gypsy, the sense of exhilaration; travelling by caravan! Thirty bands and buses of artisans sleeping over each and every city. The days and nights will be filled with mischief," said Farrell.
Some of the dates will feature British singer PJ Harvey.
Morrissey's re-emergence on the live scene follows the release of his first solo album in seven years, You are the Quarry, which is out in May.
