Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Halle Berry has filed for divorce from her husband, R&B singer Eric Benet. The couple split in October 2003 after less than three years of marriage.
A spokeswoman for the couple said Berry filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, but declined to comment further.
It is the second divorce for Berry, who is to star in upcoming film Catwoman. She was previously married to baseball player David Justice.
Adultery allegations
Berry and Benet met in 1999 at a party to celebrate the premiere of Berry's film Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, about the first black woman nominated for a best actress Oscar.
They married in a secret ceremony in January 2001, which was only revealed two weeks later.
The couple separated in 2003, with Berry admitting there had been "marital problems for some time".
There had been continuing speculation over the pair's relationship, with allegations that Benet was unfaithful to his wife.
