R Kelly's career has not suffered by the legal cases |
Prosecutors in Florida have dropped all 12 child pornography charges against R&B star R Kelly. A judge had ruled that photographs seized from the singer's home allegedly showing him with an underage girl were seized illegally.
He still faces 14 charges of child pornography in the state of Illinois, stemming from an video of him allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
The 36-year-old has denied all the charges against him.
Last week Florida Circuit judge Dennis Maloney ruled the warrant used to seize the pictures from R Kelly's home in 2002 was based on insufficient evidence, making the digital photographs inadmissible.
The prosecution opted not to appeal the ruling, instead dropping the charges.
Despite legal worries hanging over the singer for more than two years his career has not suffered, with recent hits including Ignition Remix and Snake.
The double-Grammy winner has sold more than 23 million albums.
He has worked with the likes of Michael and Janet Jackson, Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion as well as a host of rap stars.
