R Kelly has pleaded not guilty to child porn charges |
R&B singer R Kelly, who is awaiting trial on child pornography charges, has gone to number one in the UK singles chart.
The sales success of his single Ignition comes after his album Chocolate Factory topped the US album chart in February.
Kelly, 36, is on bail awaiting trial on 21 counts of child pornography in Cook County, Illinois, after allegedly filming himself having sex with an underage girl.
He faces 12 more counts on similar charges after being arrested in Florida in January. He has maintained his innocence throughout.
But the charges have not dampened the public's appetite for his music.

Ignition beat off competition from hip-hop group Big Brovaz, who had a new entry at number two with their version of My Favourite Things, originally from The Sound of Music.
Pop twins the Cheeky Girls went in at number three with their latest release, Take Your Shoes Off .
Last week's number one, dance track Loneliness by German artist Tomcraft, was pushed to number four.
Other new entries in the top 10 were rock group The Good Charlotte at number six and Bhangra Knights at seven with Husan, from a Peugeot TV advert.
In the album chart, Blur went straight in at number one with their seventh studio release, Think Tank.
