Bowie is booked to play several UK festivals in the summer

Still suffering the after effects of his illness, he performed a classic set list in Montreal on Saturday night.

At the end of the 110-minute performance he told the crowd the show had been "really memorable".

After America, he is to travel to New Zealand, Australia and Japan, before returning to play some festivals in Europe over the summer.

The 55-year-old singer began his performance by telling the crowd: "I didn't know if I could do the show tonight; I felt really ill, to be honest with you."

His Montreal set ranged from early songs like "The Man Who Sold the World" and "Fame" to several songs from "Reality", including the Grammy-nominated "New Killer Star".

Bowie ended his set with an encore of three-songs from his 1972 classic album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars".

The tour, in support of his new album "Reality", began in Copenhagen on 7 October.
