Chef Antony Worrall Thompson has become the latest person to be evicted from reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

The restaurateur put a brave face on the news and punched the air as he said "thank you", but he was clearly disappointed.

Before leaving the group, his mood turned more glum as he had to say farewell to his closest jungle friends, cricketer Phil Tufnell and designer Linda Barker.

He said: "I didn't keep the trio together."

Worrall Thompson was edged out of the show by former footballer John Fashanu, in what presenters Ant and Dec said was the closest vote yet.

His departure means four of the original 10 celebrities are left - Fashanu, Barker, Tufnell and dancer Wayne Sleep.

It remains to be seen how they will fare without their culinary supremo.

Greeted by his wife after leaving the camp, he backed Tufnell to win what he described as a "very punishing" contest.

He added: "They'll probably be relieved that bossy boots is out of the camp.

"They can do absolutely everything or nothing now."

'Has-beens'

On Thursday, model Catalina Guirado became the fourth person to leave the jungle camp.

"I'm so happy to get out, it was so boring," she said.

The Granada show, which is in its second year, is a big hit among viewers, attracting more than 9.5 million on Wednesday.

But Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell is not among the programme's fans and predicted a reality television "revolt".

She said: "If they weren't mostly - save their blushes - has-been celebrities, there might be more interest."

In an interview with the Financial Times, she said: "I think that if we saw many more programming hours taken over by reality TV, I hope you'd begin to see a viewers' revolt."
