Holly Valance became the latest soap star turned pop star when her debut single, a cover of Tarkan's Kiss Kiss, went to number one in the UK earlier this year.

Her debut album, Footprints, has now been released, and features three tracks produced by Nellee Hooper.

"It appears to have been assembled in a rush, and as a consequence there are just too many throwaway songs on Footprints, which have minimal musical impact," wrote BBC News Online's Michael Osborn.

Her version of Kiss Kiss wasn't half as good as the original and her latest single sounds almost identical. Like most of these soap stars turned singers she is trading on her looks and really has no talent at all. Hopefully she will fade into obscurity before long.

People! Don't forget that celebrities work for us, the people. TV stars who go on to music "careers" are surely just covering their back for when the acting work dries up. The fact that people buy the garbage that they release only serves to prove the point that we will buy anything by anyone. Bottom line? I had the privilege of interviewing Holly a month ago, and she is quite a nice person, though extremely professional in her approach to her new career. Now, pop music is not about how good the music is. It's about how popular it is, no matter why. I think Footprints is interesting because the people behind it actually try some new musical things, instead of just slapping a new face onto an old bottle.

The album is brilliant! My favourite this year! Songs such as Hush Now, Naughty Girl, Connect and Whoop are amazing and Help me Help You really showcases her voice, so give her a break... but sex does sell!

Well, by the sound of it most of the people contributing to this page haven't actually heard the album. I have. I bought it yesterday, listened to it once, it was rubbish, so I took it back and changed it for the Warchild album. Much better.
