The daughter of Big Brother contestant Sandy Cumming says she has no plans for a reunion with the father she has not seen for 12 years.

Amy Cumming, from Orpington, in Kent, says she did not realise as she watched the first days of the new series that her father was among the contenders.

The 17-year-old, currently taking A-levels, became upset at discovering the father she has not seen since she was six years old was on the show.

But she insisted she did not want to get in touch with him once he leaves the Big Brother house.

Amy's mother Yasmin, 46, said she was angry the Scottish contestant let slip on the show that he had a daughter, and she feared it could affect Amy's studies.

Mrs Cumming, a former carer, was married to the contender between 1982 and 1986.

She said she told Amy her father was on the show so the news would not be broken to her by tabloid reporters.

Tearful daughter

Mrs Cumming said: "I do not watch Big Brother.

"Amy came in from school and I said to her 'Dad's on Big Brother'.

"She said 'I watched it on Saturday night and I did not know which one he was', and she added 'Oh, I didn't know'."

A tearful and angry Amy said: "I knew that was my dad, I just did not recognise it as my dad. I know who my dad is."

Asked if she would like to meet him again, she said: "I have not seen him for 12 years, why would I want to see him now?"

Mrs Cumming said: "He has never made an effort to get in touch with us, so no.

"We did not know whether he was dead or alive."

At one point during the show Sandy told the other Big Brother contestants that he was a dad and had lost touch with his child.

He said he now lived with his wife of eight years in London and described himself before entering the house as being "43 going on 16".

But Mrs Cumming said: "He should have left us out of it because we are not interested in anything.

"I am angry with him rather than anybody else because he has started it."
