RBS chief defends his pay packet

The chief executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Stephen Hester, has defended his pay and the bonuses being paid to staff.

He told the Treasury Committee that he had to pay the minimum bonuses consistent with motivating staff.

But he agreed that his £9.6m pay package was controversial, even with his own parents.
