Rescue teams in Taiwan have continued to evacuate survivors, including young children who have been stranded by floods and mudslides caused by Typhoon Morakot.

In Hsinfa village in Kaohsiung county, rescuers used rope slides to help people cross rapid currents to reach higher ground.

Taiwan has appealed for international technical assistance to help rescue more than 2,000 people left stranded by the typhoon.
