Thousands of people left their villages in south Sudan during the 21-year civil war - often fleeing raids by Arab militia, army bombardments and subsequent food shortages.
Since the 2005 peace deal the many who sought refuge and work in the north or in neighbouring countries have been returning - to one of the least developed areas of the world.
In the province of Northern Bahr al-Ghazal more than half the population is made of returnees.
