Saturday was supposed to be my first so called "free" day from 1Xtra duties... as it happens it didn't quite turn out like that. For the first part of the day I was stuck up in my room editing all the new tracks that I'll be premiering on the Mixlab tomorrow. By around 4pm it was my time for me to indulge in my "other" job - recording! For those who don't know I am also a music producer.

I headed back to Music Works for a session as the studio set up and facilities had impressed me so much. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any time, so it was back to 1Xtra's JA base, Big Yard studios. It was my first ever session in Jamaica so it took a little time for me to warm to the environment. But my working partner Bigger had the session on lock. Mr Easy and Sanjay blazed a crazy combination on my forthcoming riddim, Prince Charming. We also had Lukie D in the studio recording a wicked one drop lovers tune. The way they work in Jamaica is so different to the UK. Both songs got recorded in 4 hours, and one was written from scratch on site! It's a crazy, crazy work ethic out here, but listening to the results, it definately works.

That wrapped up around ten in the evening, so it was back to base for some more editing, then sleep. Tomorrow is my day to blaze a fire on 1Xtra, so I gotta be fresh. Make sure you check back in to get the full story. Gone.
