Hello Swag XtraSway was my choice for Artist of the year so let me answer your rather harsh critique of Sway. Chipmunk and Ghetts haven't released albums this year so that cancels them out of the running to be called an Artist of 2008. Both of them have albums coming out in 2009 (and both have had some very sick singles in 2008) - so hold tight. This is Giggs' first year at this level of the game. There's no doubt that Talkin The Hardest (his freestyle over the Dr Dre beat) had the streets on lock this summer however he's only really one mixtape deep. He's definitely shown potential and if he continues to grow in the way he has, he's definitely a candidate for AOTY09 too.Sway's been at the top of his game for a long while and to have achieved what he's achieved in the last 12 months needs to be applauded. He's recorded his album independently with no help. Now, he's hustled and grinded his way into his new label position with Akon at Konvict music. Remember that no other UK rapper other than Estelle have been signed to a major American record label in the last 10-15 years. Also remember that Akon (who's a multi million selling artist) has done a lot of features in 08 - but not with ANY other UK artist. That's a big look. Sway has also collaborated with big dogs from outside of his scene such as Mark Ronson and The Kaiser Chiefs - introducing more people to his music in the process.Maybe Sway isn't your cup of tea but you can't take away his achievements and the fact that he's made a very solid, very musical ALBUM (not collection of singles or a mixtape or a pre-album or an audio scrapbook)...an ALBUM.I could list further reasons why Sway is an artist of 2008 but instead, use the iPlayer and check out my show from every day this week where I've been breaking it down.

T-Pain has done really well this year, but i think that the title should go to either Lil Wayne, The Game or NeYo!!!Then 3 dudes have smashed it! Games album was everything plus more than people anticipated! Lil Wayne came out and just blew nup with his album and tracks! NeYo's name is on every track aswell, co-propducting, singing or writting songs for Mary J, Beyonce, Jennifer Huddson...

The simple fact, that when he calabo's with top artists such as Lil weezy, Akon & Kanye 2 name but a few, they are destined 4 huge sales. Pain's sound is unique, its a signature 2 his style, but the underlying factor 2 his success, notably this year is that he knows how 2 produce great music.e
