Crime overview
The general downward trend in crime levels in England and Wales appears to be bottoming out.

Recorded crime fell 1% in the past year to 5.56m, while the British Crime Survey figure, based on people's experience of crime, rose 1%.

Violent offences bucked the general trend - recorded cases rising 2%.
