Rocco Di Pietro, 54, from Glasgow, stated: "If the bridge is built by the taxpayer then it should be free to use it.

"Not having to stop to pay a toll will help end the long queues of traffic and ease congestion.

"Also, it will hopefully encourage tourists to come here if they are not not having to pay more on bridges."
