Camelot is a private company set up to operate the Lottery and maximise returns for the so-called Good Causes. It is not responsible for distributing the funds.

Its annual profits are restricted by its licence to 0.5% of ticket sales, which have recently begun rising again after a worrying dip either side of the new Millennium.
