"I think the Hartlepool result was a shock for us all. I don't think anyone has recovered enough to think where we go from there. But I'm pretty optimistic about our chances. I think a lot of people who backed UKIP are Tory voters and I think as we build up to the election they will look again at what UKIP really stands for and have second thoughts."
