![]() | How level crossings work This half-barrier crossing is the most common seen on UK main rail lines. The barriers only block one side of the road, allowing trapped drivers to move off the crossing even when the barriers are down. Unfortunately, this also allows drivers to zig-zag through the crossing, which is a common cause of accidents. |
