Crime trends
The BCS has shown a 39% overall fall in crime since 1995. The trend is reflected in its figures showing the risk of being a victim of crime has fallen from 40% in 1995 to 26% in 2003/ 2004.

By comparison the overall level of recorded crime shows a gradual rise over the long term.
