What could be more exciting than a game of Buckaroo, Twister or Monopoly? A hole in the head, some might say - but the great British public appears to disagree.

Hasbro, the European toy market leader, saw sales of the 68-year-old game Monopoly grow 18% worldwide last year.

In the UK, some �200m was spent on board games in 2003.
