We built this slum out of a swamp. We paid a slumlord to fill it with soil. That was six years ago. Now they come and break it down. Nobody stopped us when we built it. We got our election cards and our food ration cards for a price. I have three children and a husband, who is a trishaw puller. They can't simply throw us out and take away our lives. We are Indians. We will squat here.
