Pickers are paid according to how many buckets of tomatoes they pick. Guadalupe gets about $3.50 an hour - considerably lower than the federal minimum wage of $5.15.
After work, he goes straight home to shower. "Maybe I'll be less angry after a bath," he says, after having been paid less than he expected for a week's work.
Guadalupe shares a very basic mobile home with six other men - it costs them $350 a week, that is more than $1,400 a month. The rates are similar to those in Manhattan or Miami.
