Teenage singer Charlotte Church has revealed she once splashed out more than 4,000 on a single dress.

The Cardiff-born star - who is expected to have access to the millions of pounds she has made when she turns 18 next year - said she had to make an emergency purchase for a high-profile show.

She admitted in an interview with the July edition of Q magazine that it was the most "ridiculous" thing she had ever bought.

"When I was in Las Vegas I needed dress for a show and so I bought a designer one for $7,000 dollars (4,260)," she said. "I hate spending that much money, but we were running out of time so I had to get it."

The maturing singer's changing appearance is a constant source of interest. Earlier this year, she did a photoshoot with style magazine The Face which saw her being given a vampish transformation with dramatic make-up and revealing clothes.

Just a few weeks ago, she revealed she had turned down the chance to audition for a role in the Hollywood movie Phantom of the Opera after being told she would have to lose weight.

Charlotte's long-term relationship with Cardiff club DJ Steven Johnson has attracted much media attention, but she has insisted she has no plans to marry.

"I'm not getting engaged until I'm at least 25," she said.
