Prince Philip: 'Listens'

The star has already appeared on the Frank Skinner Show and it was as a result of a phone call appearance on a TV talent show in 1997 that she was plucked from obscurity.

The 16-year-old, who has sung before the Pope, the Queen and two US Presidents in her meteoric career, is far from overwhelmed by the news and current affairs quiz show.

Paired with comedian Paul Merton, Charlotte keeps the audience laughing with a number of amusing anecdotes drawn from a career which has netted her millions.

The show to be broadcast later on Friday was recorded on Thursday night.

She tells of when she met President George Bush and he asked her what state Wales was in.

She also recounts a meeting of when she met the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, the prince was very friendly.

The Queen asked her "Do you sing often" and Prince Philip replied "Elizabeth, don't you know who this girl is? We listen to her on Classic FM all the time."

Charlotte also describes former US President Bill Clinton as "very charming, charismatic, very warm."

But she said Mr Clinton did have "an incredibly big nose".

After the recording, the young singer gave her verdict: "I really, really enjoyed it, it was completely different experience for me.

"Angus Deayton and Paul Merton are the funniest men I've ever met."

Her teammate Paul was also complimentary about the Cardiff singer.

Busy weekend

"She was very good and she showed that young people of today are much better educated and much more aware of what's going on than their elders, " he said.

Charlotte has a busy weekend ahead of her.

As a patron of the Noah's Ark Appeal to build a dedicated children's hospital for Wales she is joining Catherine Zeta Jones and Ian Botham in the final stages of the former cricketer's 229 mile walk across Wales.

She will be walking from Cardiff Bay to Cardiff Castle on Saturday and later performing at a gala concert in the city.
