Jo Coburn presents the Daily Politics each Monday to Thursday. She became a full-time presenter in September 2011, after previously looking after one show a week. Jo cut her political teeth covering the new post of a London mayor to the first mayoral contest in 2000. It became known infamously as 'the Ken and Jeffrey' show and had all the ingredients of a great political story - big personalities, party splits and expulsions and a court case to boot. After four years at BBC London she moved on and after the 2001 General Election swapped evening regional news for early mornings as political correspondent for Breakfast News. It was a busy few years years with both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars headlining on a daily basis - and the political landscape was totally dominated by Tony Blair. Along the way Jo had two children, returning to work to cover the 2005 General Election. By this time she was also presenting on the BBC News Channel and on Radio Four. Three months fronting The World This Weekend gave her the chance to cover stories in an in-depth way that's difficult to achieve within the constraints of the daily news agenda. She covered the run-up to the French presidential elections and the furore over the European Constitution. Jo started presenting the Daily Politics show with Andrew Neil on a weekly basis in 2007 and says she, "loved it", and she was with us five days a week through the 2010 election campaign, while Anita Anand was on maternity leave. In the summer of 2008, she joined the press pack on the Prime Minister's trip to Afghanistan and to Beijing for the closing days of the Olympics.
