Africa's coolest city
People celebrate Senegal's success in Dakar
It was party time in Dakar during the World Cup
Africa Live! wants your thoughts on the coolest city.

Is your hometown the party capital of the continent? Or can't you stand it where you live?

Have you travelled to Lagos, Accra, Cape Town? What did you think?

Freetown, Sierra Leone is the coolest city for two reasons. First, it has a magnificent cotton tree as its most prominant landmark. Secondly, that Freetown was the place from which the British decided to surpress the evils of the slave trade. For all the troubles in recent times the people of the city always ensure a royal welcome for all visitors.
Mark Jones, UK

Growing up in Lagos in the 1980s was the coolest experience I've had outside living in New York City. It was not the lights of Times Square or the glitz and glamour, but the sense of community and joy one gets from the littlest things in life, like walking the streets with friends and chatting, sitting in front of your house telling stories.

Now Lagos is almost the equivalent of Afghanistan where people's lives are threatened every day by armed robbers who kill recklessly. The attorney general has been killed in his home. Every day I spend in New York I think about those good old days in Lagos but I have visited a few times and each time my home has been robbed because I have brought back expensive things. As much as I love Lagos I would rather risk my life for a better purpose than have it snatched on the streets by a gang of armed robbers.
Hakeem, Nigeria

Addis Abbaba is the coolest, because it's the highest so it's colder.
Ben, UK

During the World Cup, Little Senegal in New York was Africa's coolest city!
Tony Faye, New York

Now Lagos has turned into almost the equivalent of Afghanistan

Hakeem, Nigeria
Lagos is not Africa's coolest city, that would be Cape Town, and Nairobi is better than Lagos anyway.
Amoroso Gombe, Kenya

All parts of Africa are the same to me. There is no better place than others. The coolest city in Africa would be Bujumbura my home town because that is where I have been raised.
Goreth Nankwa, Burundi

The coolest city in Africa is Bulawayo.
Ben Ndlovu, South Africa

Libraville is cool but expensive, Harare is full of violence, Johannesberg is very dangerous

Ejike, UK
Without a doubt, Lagos is the coolest city in Africa... this is a city full of drama and characters. I will highly recommend this city to people suffering from depression... boy your spirit will be uplifted by the drama on a Lagos street.
Osa Davies, UK

Johannesburg is the coolest city in Africa and maybe the world!
Roger Rosenberg, South Africa South Africa

The coolest city is Dar es Salaam.
Bill Powersbongo, Tanzania

Lagos is the coolest city in Africa. Though a bit untidy, it remains the only city in Africa where the best addresses are reserved for the Africans, and Lagosians are very welcoming to foreigners and visitors. Libraville is cool but expensive, Harare is full of violence, Johannesberg is very dangerous.
Ejike, UK

Cape Town is definitely the coolest city in Africa. It's beautiful, good weather, the people are great, and there are plenty of places to enjoy social company.
GB, South Africa
