Each is given a star rating from zero to three, and is assessed against a number of key targets and a range of indictors.
The trusts were judged on targets involving cleanliness, financial management and outreach programmes.
They were also assessed on a wider range of "indictors" including food, patients' surroundings, their dignity and privacy, patient complaints, psychiatric readmissions and suicide rates.
