NHS star ratings 2005: Specialist trusts
The Healthcare Commission, the NHS watchdog, has released its 2005 NHS star ratings. They include every specialist trust in England, which focus on areas such as cancer or children's care.

Each is given a star rating from zero to three, and is assessed against a number of key targets and a range of indictors.

The targets cover A&E waits, financial management, hospital cleanliness and the number of patients waiting longer than standard times.

Indictors cover clinical negligence, how the trust is tackling the MRSA superbug, hospital food, emergency readmissions after discharge and cancelled operations.
