The free event at Preston Park is open to members of the public |
The 60th anniversary of the end of World War II is being marked in Brighton and Hove with a commemorative service and a host of other events. Jointly organised by the Royal British Legion and the city council, Saturday's service will be attended by veterans and ex-service organisations.
The Lord Lieutenants of East and West Sussex will also attend, along with the Mayor of Brighton and Hove.
The day will end with the Beating of the Retreat and sunset ceremonies.
The free event is open to the public and up to 20,000 people are expected at Preston Park where, following a picnic lunch, events will include a parade of military vehicles, and the Army Cadets Kit Car Race.
The huge party will also include music from a swing and rock 'n' roll band, and a Scottish pipe band.
