The life of a lorry driver, who was killed when a brick was thrown through his windscreen, has been celebrated by his family and friends.

Michael Little, 53, died on 21 March when he was hit by the brick dropped from a footbridge in Camberley and crashed into his cab as he drove along the M3 on the Surrey/Berkshire border.

Police said he died from heart failure caused when the brick hit his chest.

On Friday, his partner Sue, sister Beverley, mother Anne and other family and friends gave thanks for his life at a service at Corbett's Tey Crematorium in Upminster, Essex.

'Net beginning to close'

Songs by Michael Bolton, Phil Collins and the Beatles were played at the service as well as a recital of the West Ham Football Club anthem.

Part of the Ford Motor Company where Mr Little worked as a lorry driver for 26 years was closed as a mark of respect.

Bosses at the firm have put up a reward of �25,000 for information to find the culprit.

Mr Little, who came from Hornchurch in Essex, has been praised by police for keeping his 44-ton lorry under control and pulling over onto the hard shoulder before he collapsed.

Police are still trying to catch his killer and have begun DNA screening of men who live near to the footbridge from where the brick was dropped.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham Hill, senior investigating officer, said: "Surrey Police is committed to solving this murder, and the net is beginning to close in on the killer."
