The travellers set up in Poundbury on Saturday |
A group of travellers camped at the Prince of Wales' "model" village began to leave the area on Friday. About 60 travellers set up 13 caravans on the edge of Poundbury, Dorset, on Saturday, causing concern among residents in the picturesque village.
The group said it would move on after one traveller's baby girl was released from hospital, where she was being treated for a suspected twisted bowel.
It is believed four caravans were moved off the site on Thursday night.
Simon Conibear, development manager at Poundbury, said: "We are waiting to hear whether the baby has been discharged from Royal Dorset County Hospital."
Prince Charles wanted the village to inspire planners |
Mr Conibear said a review would now be held into how the site could be better secured. "We have to bear in mind the intentions for that land and how it can be secured.
"Part of it is earmarked as open park, part of it road, and some for affordable housing and a leisure centre," he explained.
Poundbury was conceived by Prince Charles as a vision of an English village which would inspire town planners.
A spokeswoman for the Duchy of Cornwall estate, which owns the land, said: "We have spoken to the group and have been in liaison with the relevant local authorities and they have told us it is their intention to move on by the weekend.
"We will be keeping abreast of the situation as the day goes on."
Dorset Police said no arrests had been made overnight at the site.
