The BBC has larger audiences in Africa than anywhere else in the world. The BBC reaches over 111 million people in Africa every week, which makes it the largest international broadcaster on the continent. 

Journalists are based in 11 bureaux across Africa, including South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda, providing accurate, impartial and independent news and information both regionally and internationally.

With content in Arabic, English, French, Hausa, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Kiswahili, Somali and Swahili, BBC World Service connects with audiences through a variety of delivery methods including TV, radio, online and mobile devices and social network channels. It is one of the fastest developing news markets in the world, and mobile technology and better connectivity are transforming lives.

For the first time in Africa the BBC will be launching new fully digital language services.

As we invest significantly in Africa over the next few years, we will be expanding our multimedia operations, launching new language services to audiences including Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo, Amharic, Afaan Oromo and Tigrinya. We’ll be investing in the continent, in our journalism and in our multimedia production facilities. 

We want to work with African journalists, broadcasters, independent production companies and academic institutions. And we are looking for great journalists with ideas, creativity and flair to join us.
