WORKSHOPS: 8 weekly sessions from Saturday 24th January 2026

Are you a resident of Newark or Sherwood in Nottinghamshire? Are you curious about writing a script for theatre, TV, radio or film, but don’t know where to start? Or maybe you have written a bit, and need more guidance?
Introducing… Palace Playwrights!
Starting on the 24th of January and running for eight consecutive Saturdays, building to a showcase of work. Taking place at Newark Palace Theatre, Nottinghamshire.
During this FREE eight-week course, led by an award-winning scriptwriter, learners will explore the foundations of writing scripts, whilst developing their creative voice. Each week we will focus on a different aspect of writing and a range of other topics including how to get inspired. Sessions will be delivered through discussion, reading scripts and creative writing exercises, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Led by award-winning scriptwriter and educator Hugh Dichmont, and delivered in association with Script East Midlands.
All levels of experience welcome. Workshop space fully accessible.
