I have genuinely no idea where I’d be now or what I’d be doing if I hadn’t spotted that opportunity on Writersroom just two days before it was about to close.
Mark Brotherhood is the writer of the CBBC series Worst Year of My Life... Again! which was commissioned following an open call talent search run by BBC Writersroom in 2009 - the same opportunity which resulted in Debbie Moon's Wolfblood being developed and commissioned.
Mark was amongst eight writers selected to be taken forward and was invited to attend a BBC Writersroom residential where he had the opportunity to develop and work on his idea with Writersroom and CBBC. His script was one of two that were then taken on to be developed by CBBC.
The show was a co-production between CBBC and ACTF in Australia and the series was filmed out there. Mark was flown out to Australia where he spent a fortnight story-lining the entire series with ACTF.
Since being successful on that original Writersroom open call Mark has ended up writing for Shameless, Hollyoaks, Mount Pleasant, 4 O’Clock Club, Young Dracula and Death In Paradise.
