In programme one, Mike travels to the former state-run coffee farm in Nicaragua where he picked coffee as an “international volunteer” in the mid-1980s.

He meets some of the farmers he picked alongside then, key supporters of the leftist revolution, and we hear of the changes in their lives and in their country.

And we meet other Europeans, who, like Mike, were drawn to Nicaragua, but have stayed on even after the revolution came to an end.
