Read a selection of your emails EU Constitution I get the impression that many people voted 'no' because they want a 'social Europe' rather than the neo-liberal, capitalist Europe which Brussels seems to be busily implementing...... we should be realistic and should accept that we cannot have a 'fully employed', social Europe and still expect to buy endless cheap products from foreign 'sweat-shops'. No, the only way to create social stability and to have a truly balanced economy is, wherever possible, to pay European prices for European products and whenever imports are required to pay fair prices to the producers. From Alan Searle in Cologne If The Constitution is ever to be accepted as credible, it needs to be clearly explained, preferably in a manner that engages the people in commenting on the details. After this, there needs to be simultaneous pan-European referenda. Finally, there must be consideration given to all possible outcomes, before the referenda. The French public have shown the folly of trying to play Russian roulette. From Andrew Aikman in Croatia Let us go back to the union of 15, and by all means have a free trade arrangement with the other 10. Then we can keep some control of our destiny. Too much too fast; that is the meaning of the French and Dutch votes. Francis Farley in France |
