The Other Internet – Beyond China’s Great Firewall

China's economic miracle has been driven by the country's technological revolution, but the web also presents China’s authorities with problems and issues about control and access.

The country patrols its cyberspace very carefully. The Chinese government closes down hundreds of websites each year and blocks access to many international websites. Search terms such as "Tiananmen square massacre" return censored results.

For Chinese dissidents and ordinary citizens who are not satisfied with the limits their government imposes on them, how do they get around China's great firewall?

Weiliang Nie of the BBC's Chinese Service meets Chinese internet users and finds out more about the country's internet censorship.
