Heart of Darkness

Joseph Conrad's 1899 novel Heart of Darkness, considered one of the most important in Western literature, has been turned in to a graphic novel.

With most of the text stripped away we rely on Swedish/Kenyan artist Catherine Anyango's drawings to evoke the shadowy journey the main character Marlow embarks on. Catherine explained to The Strand how she approached this controversial story.

First broadcast September 7th 2010.
