Barbara Kingsolver

Barbara Kingsolver has established a name as a writer committed to issues of social justice and biodiversity.

Since her 1993 novel Pigs in Heaven, each of her 6 books have appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Her latest novel The Lacuna has just been awarded the 2010 Orange Prize for fiction.

It tells the story of a young Mexican man who became cook to Frida Khalo and Trotsky's secretary.

Ahead of her appearance on the BBC's World Book Club, she visited The Strand to discuss the novel.
