Stella Duffy is a writer and comedian who was born in the UK, grew up in New Zealand and now lives in London.

She tells Bidisha about her latest novel 'Theodora'.

The book, which follows four years of intense research, tells the story of the rise of a child sold into slavery who became the most important woman of the Byzantine Empire.
